Hi.
My name is Malcolm and this is my first ever Forum and Post so i hope i do it right. I live at Fisherman Bay S.A. I have just retired and I can't fish everyday so i have always wanted to go detecting so i have been researching what detector to buy. I narrowed it down to the Garrett ATX and the SDC2300 thats what brought me here because there was a thread that was comparing the 2 detectors. I found some good informationon on these machines and UTUBE stuff because a lot of the utube stuff before i joined was mainly the ATX. it was good to see something else. Then i came across the children bickering in the playground and it was good to see the teacher (Moderator) step in and try and stop the children. It is a very hard decision to make on which machine to purchase if you have never used one and this has helped, when on the surface they both appear to do the same thing. The ATX is well presented and it appears you get more for your hard earned dollar and a choice of coils for around the $4000 mark. The Minelab SDC2300 looks a bit bare when you compare but you can improve this buy talking to the Minelab shop but it still cost a bit more.
So my only experiance with detecting is UTUBE but i have had the yurning a very long time and when ones life changes opportunities arise.
SO AFTER ALL that dribble I have decided to buy the 2300 today on line but it was a hard decision. So i hope it arrives soon.
So if there is anyone around the area that would like someone to tag along please contact me I would only be to willing..
Thanks for reading Cheers..

Welcome to the forum Wombat. I can feel for your confusion when it came to detector choices. ATX vs GPX vs SDC vs earlier PI machines, and the head can sometimes go into a dizzy spin. Bottom line is they are all great machines and the edge is gained from the locations you most want to use them. Your decision on the SDC will be a good one, and should serve you very well.

All the very best of luck with it, and look forward to hearing about your adventures out there in the paddock.

Cheers Wal.

Welcome Malcolm

Hope you don't have too many excited sleepless night between now and when your SDC turns up.

Hopefully you can get a photo uploaded of a nice nugget in a few weeks.

Thanks WalnLiz

Sometimes you need that support when you spend that sought of money and I hope to get out the back in the Flinders Rangers and beyond love the bush spent some time beyond
Thanks again
Cheers :/

HI Wally69
Ye I sleep a bit better now I have made the decision. I can understand the excitement but I can wait ????. I am going to take the lessons on how to use with Minelab in the beginning of Nov. Can't wait. I think i will practise on the beach here although someone was sweeping over it a couple of weeks ago
