Thanks Davent...a good article. Couldn't help but note the author's name...Reg Sniff...I just can just see him in the goldfields...nose to the ground..
Reg is actually a member of this forum (Profile: https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/profile.php?id=3659 ), and drops in from time to time to contribute to the discussion here, usually when Whites PI detectors are the topic. His practical experience combined with his technical/electronics knowledge of them is unparalleled and his writing is so interesting that I find his posts always worth reading, even though I don't myself use a Whites PI machine. :)

Speaking of Whites here is something you may like to read. Sounds like that new Nugget detector is close to production!
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-...50&s1=9285496.PN.&OS=PN/9285496&RS=PN/9285496
Extract from the Summary:
This invention covers methods of generating and processing both types of signals in a single metal detector and running both types, CW [VLF] and PI, simultaneously.
The highly desirable solution combines the advantages of each system: the depth of PI with the discrimination of CW
[VLF], plus a GB [Ground Balancing] method which does not suffer from loss of depth or target holes.

If this works as stated in the patent application, it could be the holy grail for prospectors!

Would be great if that came to fruition but that tech description sounds a bit like ZVT...?? Unless it's two seperate systems?? Interesting nonetheless as is rumours from different sources that a unit has been getting some field time. If a unit is coming, hope Whites get the unit into the hands of the right people to put it through its paces.
