Thats good price Jaros. Id definitely grab one if didnt already own a fridge. At that price it would be affordable to have 2 running one as a freezer and other as a fidge.

Unbelievable price for a Secop (danfoss) driven 50l, go back 30 years, in my business I would buy 20 Danfoss bare compressors in bulk, couple times/year, at not much less then that price for the works.

I have a 45 Engel for a freezer and a 45 ltr Komodo for food which i have had running for 2 weeks and still going well-same compressor i think- I purchased for $350-00 NEW but shop display job. Don't need another fridge. I know a lot of our members would snap this offer up.
Jaros :p

Engel - Sawafuji Swing Motor, mine = 24 yrs old, cost new $950 (from memory, it was a bloody long time ago)

So, cost per year, so far, <$40

The only problem in that time was last year, blown fuse and that was my fault for not screwing the plug bezel in and intermittent electrical contact causing the fuse to blow.

It's a great deal for the price, only time will tell if it lasts. My Engel is only 30 lt and is limited space wise. So having its reliability to fall back on, I'm seriously looking at one of these from Anaconda, to use as a main fridge, then change the Engel to a freezer.

Good deal if your in the market hard to beat that price for 50lt unit.

I have a Trailblazer 80lt aluminium body, 12 volt only run as 240 via Arkpak or any 12 volt charger. Had it for 20 years, bought it 2nd hand and never missed a beat.

If you do alot of travel and rely on a fridge / freezer I wouldn't go past the Trailblazer, made in Caloundra. You can only buy direct as far as I'm aware.

Also have a Waeco 80lt and not really satisfied with it, I'll hang on to it though one of the kids will end up with it.

Looks like a pretty good deal, and I was given an Anaconda voucher for Christmas too ;)

I don't know too much about running a fridge, and only have a single battery set up in the car at the moment, so how would I go running this unit overnight, would it run the battery flat?

You should have a dual battery system when running a fridge-so much safer having the sun charge the batt thru the day and then run the fridge at night-still need a solar panel say 160w.
Jaros :p

Definitely aiming to go the dual set up, just wondering if it would run me flat overnight with just the main battery at the moment?

Just did a bit of research, I reckon I'd be OK overnight without a charge. I also received a portable jumpstart/power pack for Christmas too, so hopefully bases are covered :D

I'd buy a dedicated deep cycle battery to run the fridge as your starter battery won't like being discharged.

Check my thread on Bush Power https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=9156

But in short, as a guide my Engel uses about 1AH per hour on average in wintertime, at this time of the year, it would be more overnight and on one test I did it pulled 25AH during daytime over 8 hrs.

So if you stop the engine at say 4pm and don't restart till 8am the next day (16hrs), you can draw at this time of the year around 30AH min possibly more. My fridge is only a 30lt Engel, so a larger fridge and different brand can use much more. If your starter battery is a few years old, you might have a cold beer for breakfast, but you'll most likely be walking..... :)

Although I knew better, I had my fridge in the back of an AU2 wagon years ago, I had it running direct from the start battery of the car and forgot to connect it to the Thumper I carried as well. Four hours after getting to the caravan park (Flinders Ranges and a bloody hot day, my car alarm went off, lights flashing etc. I had to disconnect the battery to shut it all off and not only was the start battery flat, it was now totally buggered. Although I got a new battery from Leigh Creek, I paid a premium price for it. I also had no radio until I got home as the code was not in the car and the central locking was a pig to reset. The RAA mechanic was there for near 2 hours, just to get me going. The battery was a few years old.

Fortunately it didn't happen 2 days before, as I was bush camping and rarely saw a car, had no mobile signal and at that time no PLB

My Advice, keep the start battery for starting the car not to run a fridge.....

Hmm, this is very tempting. I've been thinking about getting one for a while. I would hope 50l would be enough volume. I might poke my head into the local store and have a look (if it's there).

Thanks for the heads up, Jaros.
