Thanks Heatho.
Yep that was my next guess... Mica. Thought I was rich there for half a second :8 ;)
It sure is plentiful. I was digging under a rock and could see specks in the soil.
A good or bad thing? Is gold found near it? I assume as mica is lighter the gold will be deeper?

I found a bunch of flakey metallic looking yellow stuff in a local creek a while back and thought I'd struck it rich (it was short lived though) lol

The Mica is not an indicator for gold Rod, it comes from the granite.

Heh, yeah it's a great feeling for a few seconds and then you realise. :) In the pan the mica will move with only the slightest water movement, any gold will need slightly a bigger shunt from water in the pan to move it around I've noticed.

from my experience pyrite is little brother to gold but you do find gold without, same as you find sapphires without spinnel, i am new i may be wrong

Looks pretty but that's about it

I concur as well. went to GG today saw heaps in the river and they are much lighter compare to the actual gold (in Oallen ford)
