GPZ7000 upgrade 2

When the new upgrade became available I had it put on my detector, but it didn't seem to work any better, so I switched the upgrade off. Does anyone feel that their Z works better, quieter, deeper with the new upgrade? I'm finding lots of small bits, down to 0.06 grams, but don't seem to be getting much depth. Cheers.

Not sure how you can switch the upgrade off but Do a full reset and adjust from there should be ok.

I know what you mean wiley. I just thought it was me not walking over the big nuggets. I've been finding bits that are not registering on my scales. I often find bits that the SDC has missed.

Hi Wiley.

By 'turn off the update' do you mean you just haven't got the new features switched on or have you actually re-uploaded the old software?

In theory, the latest update should run exactly the same as the previous version if you have Ground Smoothing turned off and not using semi-auto tracking, etc.

But, if you really want to use the previous version you can go onto the Minelab website and re-load it, getting rid of the most recent version off your machine.

If you have the latest version and do a full reset it will simply take it back to the factory defaults of that version - it won't take it back to the original software.

Yes, Rockhunter, I know what you mean. I go over my patches with the sdc after the 7000. It's interesting in that sometimes you'll find lots with the sdc, and sometimes nothing much. On my last patch I got about 150 specimens with the z, all small, then redid it with the sdc and got 45 more. I feel that, instead of the 14" passing over the larger bits of quartz, I was able to move the sdc 8" between them , getting closer to the ground. I was also using a pro sonic on the sdc, which may have helped.Cheers

Thanks mate, I bought my Zed at the same time as the second update was released, my Zed had the first update installed from the factory and I assumed there was only one. I will download the second one now.

Well worth doing!...In some spots, especially laterite, I can get away with using normal ground with locate patch turned on

I installed it this morning, just have to wait a couple of weeks now before I can try out the new settings.
