Can some please give me some advise I know it going to take time to find my first nugget but if I am finding a lot of bits and pieces such as bullets bits of led out of bullets nails, pop rivet heads every thing but gold but does it sound like I am on the right track with the settings I have red the books watched the u tube videos but some reassurance would be good or some good advise or some one else I can talk to thanks

Sounds like your in the ball park with settings if you're picking up small shot and pop rivet heads. When you start close to the factory settings the 5000 will deliver if you swing on a nugget.

Reading the ground is the big trick for success, and once those first few nuggets are unearthed your confidence in the 5000 will rise significantly. The 5000 has a very wide range of settings to optimize it for different conditions and you're settings will continually change to reflect these conditions.

Once you gain some more experience you will venture further away from the factory settings and into more custom settings to suit each individual gold field. Start with "Factory" and use a small test nugget (around .3gm), for reassurance when first setting out. Keep your threshold as smooth as possible. Send me a PM if you want some personal advice. ;)

Cheers Wal

Thanks wal that is reassuring that was my next idea is to take out a small nugget with me but I don't understand the PM is that private message and how do I do that

The PM function ( Private Message) will be enabled as soon as you have made 10 posts. You can then hit the PM icon and send Private messages to members. This is a great benefit to members and unavailable to the guests on the forum.

Many members (myself included ) will only give personal info such as locations or personal settings via this function to avoid guests getting this free info. Another great reason to be a member and not just sit on the fence. ;) Best of luck,

Cheers Wal.

Remember that you can always do a factory reset by holding the power switch down whist turning it on - Hold it and then select the option and it will reset everything to the FP condition. That way if you think you have confused it and messed something up its easy to fix.

Ok wal thanks again I will have think of some more questions to get my 10 post up
