Gold detecting in Tennant Creek

Hi my wife and I are travelling through Tennant Creek in a few days and would like to know if anyone there takes people out detecting. Have GPZ7000 and SDC2300. Cheers Larry

Call in to the visitors information centre in TC. They are always friendly and helpful and have the business card of a couple of people who will take you out. We've been there a couple of times and have found gold by ourselves out at Mad Mick's camp about 50ks out where you can camp as well. Good luck.

That's Warrego, where the old Mad Mick's camp is and huge areas to cover. They were talking of doing that a couple of years ago. Larry you would not need anyone to take you out there. $$. Get the info as to the detecting area from the visitors centre and then head out on the Warrego bitumen road and go out about 50ks and look for a sign detecting area on the right. I suppose it's the same still, good gravel road past cattle camp till you come to MMC and you will be about at the railway line. But detecting areas are signed anyway on the 5 or more kilometres in. The area on the left was ok and the train toots during the night as well to say hello! There were usually a few people camped. Spinefex was a bit of a nuisance.

Detected warrego last month, easy access, and gold can be found anywhere in the Ares. Even where you camp. There are 4 areas that have been pushed,and heavily detected, and they are still giving up gold.

Turn right at the warrego turn off just before you enter TC, about 45km turn right,small sign, then 14 km to main camping area.
