Well here is one for the Greens and Governments to think about when restricting access to land and stopping people from Gold fossicking, prospecting and mining because of environmental issues.

They often fail to look at the bigger picture and focus on the negatives rather than the benefits of gold mining. They forget where there is a problem there is always a solution, you just have to look for it and have the will to implement it. The will can be mandated by Government.

Most of the information they use to justify their positions is outdated i.e. arsenic, mercury, dredging (its illegal in Australia so get over it. The wrong doers will get caught and dealt with). These days there are far better more environmentally friendly ways to look for and process gold ore.

Here is the latest research on Gold and its benefits:

To me it just doesn't make sense if they could get cleaner air, cut CO2 emissions, have cleaner water and get health benefits (all goals they profess to have) why would any environmental groups and governments be against gold mining?

It is because most of people in developed world lost their faith in religion. Those groups that strive to restric other people from doing anything that is different from their believes found their new religion. Be it Greenies, Anti smoking, Anti Abortionist or what ever pressure group, they will always try to impose they believes on others. You can't reason or argue with their point of view becouse it is their religion.

Great vid gcause.well worth the time spent in watching it ! :)

Interesting vid. Only the real extreme fringe element are against mining (but still drive cars). Environmentalists zealously protect the environment and given the past mining methods I'm not against them putting their points forward if valid. But mining has changed. The problem as I see it is that a great argument can be put by focusing on the impact to just one species rather the environment. It's up to the miners to counteract any arguments with science.
