Hi Guys,
I need help identifying the hallmarks on this old Buckle Ring I found recently at an old timers camp, any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I thought maybe the Hallmark had not changed, or they would have info on the old company. The company was still around in 1924 in Perth WA and it is a private family company run by a whole lot of the Macrow family.

Very nice find, and is definitely an old ring.

It is stamped with hallmarks that were registered by the Victorian Manufacturering Jewellers' Association which I believe was the first attempt at an Australian hallmarking system. The association had a short life from 1889 to the early 1920's so your ring would date from this period.

There is an interesting article on Trove talking about why there was a push for hallmarking.

The third last hallmark on your ring is the manufacturer's mark, which is a thistle for Macrow.
