Wanted to find out where we can get hold of the Gold 2 google earth maps Australia...so that it goes over the Google maps and shows us where all the gold mines, digings etc are... thanks for your help. ??

The gold mine deposit files are available here to site supporters in the downloads section.

This one though I've posted on here numerous times is the geological survey of NSW, it has every known gold, gem, mineral, metalurgical deposit in NSW with geological field reports, geological maps and a host of other info. All the GPS markers are clickable for extra info on each deposit.

Just click on the little earth symbol on the top left of the page and when you close google earth click "save".

There is one for queensland too called "Queensland Globe", though it has all the deposits it is not as well done as the NSW version.

don't pay for these, they are available free and have been for many years.
a simple google search will find them.

I got mine on eBay,,, $15.00 . Australia wide and all gps coordinates, and on google earth too.

Tried joining and down loading the files , but it looks like apple ipad is not supported.
Cant access the files.

Nucopia I had only downloaded them onto my PC then sent them to my android phone to upload onto Hema etc. Don't think they open on the android version of Google Earth? Probably the same for ipad - not sure I've never used one?
With my other kml/kmz files I do the same - make or alter them on PC then send to my phone for uploading to Hema etc. I don't use Google Earth on portable devices as it doesn't work offline.

For Qld I find that Qld Globe offers a lot of info, you can download the abandoned mine site info and it will overlay on the area you are looking at, open 'Land Boundaries' and click on both boundaries and labels and it'll provide a small "i" on areas within specific boundaries, when you click on the "i" symbol it will provide the lease details which you can then Google so you can discover who holds the lease, lease type, contact details, duration etc. Once you start delving into the overall functionality you'll get access to a stack of info.

Using the "Tenures" section and you can select the different tenure types, also gives GPS coordinates of the mouse arrow in the bottom right of the screen.

When you combine this with historic info from Gold & Ghosts, it becomes a powerful tool.

There is a new version out which I haven't tried yet, still using the older version as an add on the Google maps.
