Hi,
I've got a second hand gpx 5000, havent been detecting much but have found one beauty at 14.9g so far.
Need lots of time practicing to get the settings right and learning to use the right coil for the ground, etc.
Not a very fit prospector, but that might change as I keep digging so many holes, it's be nicer if more of the finds were gold and not trash.
Looking forward to learning lots.
Cheers

Gday & welcome aboard Carey :Y:

Scotty

Thanks all,
Wow you guys have got some gear.
Na Scotty, I don't mind you sharing my best and only gold find so far, now just need to find all it's brothers and sisters.
Detecting SA, S.A. is beautiful, I grew up in the Riverland, never knew about detecting back then though.
I want to go out detecting right now, but still at work. :|

Nobody sell that man a New 5K otherwise none of us will find anything afterwards! Well done Flowerpot ... er ... FLOWERPOT?

Hey Anolphart, I'm a sheila, , that's why I'm Flowerpot.
(Oh and that's where I hide my gold.) :D
Love what you've done with the photo, so funny
Went out for an hour yesterday evening, just dug more rusty wire.
Practice, practice, practice

Whew, Im glad about that! Ive been known to put my hoof in my mouth on occasions and what with the tendency for neutralising our gender these days sometimes its easy to fall into the long drop. Im glad to see a sheila interested in what is typically a blooey sort of activity, and Im sure that you can bring some couth to us uncouth rabble.

Thanks 7.62marksman, and Anolphart 'tis all ok, I didn't think you were a nong or anything like that :D , I just thought that maybe "blooey" was a nickname you blokey detectorists used for each other, funny stuff.

Hey I've just re-read this thread and what a lovely welcome I was given, Thankyou all so kindly. What a great bunch of yoomans yooz all are :D
I'm having a ball. Already in less than a month, I've learnt better technique for swinging my tecta and adjusting settings. I found my second piece, only tiny at .17g but very exciting. Hubby has bought himself a brand new GPX4500, so we get out bush so much more now, it's great!! I've chatted and met up with folks off the forum for a tecting sesh. Managed to get an avatar picture on here by myself, quite an achievement for me, still unable to post any other photos yet, can't seem to make that happen. I'll get it sussed eventually, so I'm thinking I'm already a bit more computer savvy now. Got totally sucked in and entertained the other night with a rant by an unhinged new member (now banned) attacking Madtuna whom I consider to be a decent fella with a great sense of humour. Onya Mr Mad   Have enjoyed reading all Minelab gold's posts and have watched a lot of his vids too and have learnt so much from him, sorry to hear he's gone awol. Silvers funny comments crack me up, reefers poetry inspires me. The back and forth between folks is always great to follow, the topics are interesting, funny and informative and oodles of friendships have no doubt been forged through this forum by gold and words put together. So much in only a short time.
Long live Prospecting Australia
