G'day, how's it going, I hope you're having a great day.I'm loving this sunshine. Anyway, my names Tommy, I've been interested in prospecting and eventually mining gold for a few years now. I have just moved back to the beautiful far north from living a few years in WA. I have convinced my best mate and my Brother to have a go at prospecting with me and maybe if we are persistent and do our research we may find ourselves some gold. I know that its a 'no promises' game but the thought is so alluring, I could imagine myself mining gold well into my retirement age -I'm 22. Anyhow, sorry that this dragged on a bit, I wanted to introduce myself and hopefullyt sart chatting to some like minded guys and gals. As a side note, I would like to hike up Russell River to do a bit of panning, does anyone have a rough guess at how many km's up I'd have to go.

Thanks Green Wanderer, it would be great to make some prospecting mates to go on weekend fossicking trips with. I'm a newbie to the hands on side of things but have had an interest in gold and extraction methods for the past few years. In the next few years I'd like to find gold bearing ground that I can peg a claim on and mine with some of my family. But for now I am trying to get out and about and gather all the knowledge and experience I can on prospecting for and mining gold
G'day Jaros, I would like to have a look up Russell River to start with, the rainforest is hard to get through but. How's it around Palmer River, is the jungle fairly dense or are there tracks? Thanks for the input and advice guys, I sure do appreciate it
