We've been fossicking for several years but we're new to gold prospecting. We recently tried panning at Old Halls Creek with little success so decided to buy a couple of detectors. We first ordered a Minelab SD2300 but it was not available so we ended up with a Garrett ATX. It was too heavy for Sandra to comfortably manage so she has a White's Goldmaster GMT. Our introductory trip was to the Leanora area in WA where we returned with 44g including the nice little piece if loaded as an avitar photo.
I've just flown to Brisbane to pick up a 4WD truck. I'm camped in the Talgai area looking for somewhere to swing the detector for a day or so to break up the journey. I can't afford to do it too often as I have a long way to go home to Capel and a limited time to get there. I'd appreciate a few tips if somebody has a little knowledge of the Warwick area.

Welcome Phil,

I can't give any advice about Talgai but stay away from the Thanes creek fossicking area...spent a day there once with zero returns :(

Talk to a fella called Bruce ( I think) at the Glendon camping grounds and he will tell you some good spots to go to in that area, he is very knowledgeable and keen to offer assistance.

Nice nugget there too.

Cheers

Thanks guys. I spent 2 hours this morning for 18 bullet shells and quite a bit of lead and copper casings.

That's some nice nuggets you got there mate. Welcome to the forum and looking forward to see some pics of your finds. :)
