Hey guys my first post here just got into the hobby well not as of yet i still have to purchase my first detector! Very close to pulling the trigger on a SDC2300 was either that or the gpx4500 but i have had a few people recommended the sdc2300 as a great beginners detector. What price range would i be looking at for a second hand one ?

My friends selling his sdc2300 for $2700 he only used it once but didnt like the hobby, comes with Minelab headphones, recharge unit, instruction manual and a custom carry box, problem is he lives in NSW now so he would have to post it which i'm a bit skeptical about also the cost of it.
What to you guys think should i buy it ?
Cheers Nic

G'day and welcome to the forum.
The sdc is a great detector to start off with, its basically a turn on and go.
The 4500 is a great detector but takes a bit of understanding of the machine before you can get the most out of it.
With a small coil, it can run just as good as the sdc, but is no good in water.

You have gold right on your back door.
Problem is there is heaps of junk around.
I have picked up gold to .7 of a gram but prefer running the highbanker as most of the gold is small.

When you get to 10 posts, send me a privet message and I can show you a spot or 2 only 5 min from Dimond creek.

Mate just so you don't go down the same path as your mate, just ask him to hang on to it for a while (unless he needs fast cash)
Go out and either rent one or go out for a day with another fella to see if you like it.
But even if you did just buy the one your mate has there would be no problem getting your money back if you decided not to pursue it and sell it.
But once you find colour you seem to get hooked. And it takes you outdoors which is better than sitting in front of a TV.

Mate, $2,700 is excellent for an SDC that's only been used once, particularly under a hefty warranty. Shipping should be less than $50, so snap it up

Just found out the warranty has expired and to send it to me will cost $90! is the warranty an important thing to have ?
