A couple of weeks ago, I packed up all my gear including my brand new SDC2300 and headed off for a day in the bush...

Now I know you all like a good laugh so...

When I got there, I had left all my maps etc home, so the dog and I just spent the day bush bashing instead.

Today, we did it again, only this time, we actually got the gear out of the boot and onto the body and headed off for a bit of a bush walk. I am impressed with the 2300 but DAMN that thing needs a volume control! I am quite sure I was the only one in the area, and I was still embarrassed by the volume when it gets a hit! Now before anyone suggests headphones, it was 32+ degrees up there, and I am a BIG lad, and the headphones aren't waterproof :)

I didn't find any of the gold colour stuff, but found a ball of lead about the size of a marble... that sure made the 2300 sound off!

Ohh and I found several of these... (see image)

What part of Blackwood/Trentham were you trying Kati? I went for a drive there recently and there was a lot of undergrowth and very steep terrain. I've also heard the gold is generally deep in the ground?
