Hi All. Don't have tickets on myself, the surname is Fox. From the Hunter Valley, NSW & retired 2 years ago & need a hobby.
Have been doing a bit of panning over the last decade, Nundle, Mudgee & the odd trip to Ballarat & Clunes. Have nearly found enough to pay for the milk in my cup of coffee. Last year I met Col, a local from Amherst, who suggested detecting. Spoke to a few people & did a bit of research. Visited Maryborough & purchased a GPX4500 today. Had a quick run this afternoon & found a few old nails, a .22 cartridge & the base of a 12 gauge shell. I am told that's not bad for a first hour :) Tomorrow is a day with Col to learn the ropes and I have a training day with Coiltek this Friday. Not expecting to make a fortune, but enjoy the bush, although one old bloke came into the shop whilst I was there with a 20.2g nugget he just unearthed outside town. Now I do expect to find something damn it! Anyway, have followed the site & enjoyed the conversations. Hope to share a few stories.

Kool, welcome. great weapon you have, and the more you play with it, the better you get to know. Sum great features that many owners dont understand properly with unit. The intro booklet is written in yank terms, and sum translation slang differs from out here. Have a good study of custom settings, play with it, read it again, then it makes more sense. I can get you on some private land on Maitland Bar if your up this way again.

Welcome Foxy. I hope youre right about the 4500 mate cause I bought one last Oct while we were in Vict too. The good thing about being on PA is that people will pass on their experiences and advice about all sorts of stuff relating to detecting and prospecting in general so its a place to learn heaps. [Noone will tell you where to go for the good gold- the big stuff, but that's part of the fun and researching ] Anyway all the best and on our trips to the GT, may be we'll cross paths.
