Found this Tag at my local beach... any ideas?

Could it be an military dog tag?

AS - not sure what that could mean
224669 - Service Number (however I think they normaly start with a letter)
N REL - No Religion
O POS - Blood Group

Only guessing all that. I don't know for certain.

It is an army dog tag

AS Australian
Regt No starting with 2 inlisted in NSW
Peace is his Surname
The rest of dogmatic info is correct.
