Does the detector pick up on the gold now that it's been removed from the quartz? Personally I don't think it would as I've run bigger pieces over the 5x8 coil without a response whatsoever.

Perhaps the detector was reacting to some other element contained within the quartz (i.e Iron Oxides)?

I agree, don't think the AT would pick up on that, must be reacting to something else. My 50kHz GM3 would probably struggle to pick that up, if at all. :)

hi nugget the gold in the pan is from what i crushed up out of the quartz it still picks it up but............... you do have to have the sensitivty up full blast and wave it right on the coil but it dose pick it up you just have to lisen to the faint sound :)

Very impressive. picking that tiny piece up. Pretty sure I'd have missed it. No musical talent and my hearing sub-par at best. More power to you mate
