Always loved the thought of going bush, camping with my family or mates and having a fossick. About 25 years ago I went to sofala met a old timer there and he took us to a creek and I panned a small speck of gold. Will never forget how excited I was. I couldn't stop, the old man just laughed and said i had the bug or something along those lines. Anyway life got in the way and here I am now. I have the time and keen as to get out there.
My questions are where do I start. I live in Sydney and guess around sofala is a good place to start. What gear st ups I get, just a pan or spend a little and get a metal detector, which one happen to spend a few grand for a decent one. Then what, people say research but where, what do I look for. Should I go with someone that runs tours to learn. Is there only gold around sofala or other valuable stones gems.
Sorry for the long intro, really want to learn more and get my kids out in the bush
