Hi all ive been getting info from this site for awhile and finally sighned up. Me and my partner have been slowly traveling around Australia for about 8 months now and we have been thinking of getting some prospecting gear as a hobby while travelling. Would love to get a garrett atx or minelab sdc2300 but we will probably have to start with something cheaper.

Welcome CAPSLOCK, sounds like a great trip.
Until you're sure you like the pastime (detecting) it's usually better to hire a unit before making a final decision.
However even if you bite the bullet and buy (say) a SDC you'll find that with the resale value of Minelab you won't be too much out of pocket.

First day trying out my nokta fors gold, didn't find anything but heaps of barb wire. I hate that stuff. But thoroughly enjoyed my new hobby as I'm sure you will to.
