Hi JeffP,

If those nuggets are real (not having a dig, just my thoughts as the rougher and highly polished areas together look a bit suss to me) then that's not a bad effort for the Hargraves area.

Good eye-catching lumps to hang around your neck on a nice chain though :D

All the best and kindest regards,
Shauno.

Looks similar to some I've got in that region, so I wouldn't dismiss its authenticity.... ;)

I have my doubts as well ;)

Glad I'm not alone there Jeff. :)

Something just doesn't seem right to me. The discrepancies between the rough and polished areas just aren't natural. The area lower left on the top pic just screams melted gold chain links, you can even see bits of them on closer inspection. Looks like gaseous impurity reaction (fine surface bubbling) from melting on the rougher areas also.

Very similar to lumps a goldsmith friend of ours used to have sitting around prior to refining. He would melt the scrap down and simply drop it into cold water to cool down and it would have that slight "nugget" look.

Nice bits regardless. Good for jewelry at the very least.
All the best,
Shauno.

most people use a cigarette a lighter these days.. matches are very unusual today... nice nuggets non the less. :)

Its a fake.

Anyone who smokes and can only afford Coles matches instead of Redheads clearly does not have sufficient $$$ to buy a GPZ7000 needed to find that sucker.

We are a skeptical lot. Me included!

Looks like laundered jewellery to me

....... or the results of a clumbsy crucible carrier, although I don't think he would have been stupid enough to spill and loose the second lot.
