Ever Found Much On Old Diggings?

Havent had any luck on old diggings Those places with shallow holes and mullock heaps every where. What have you pulled from them?

Some diggings with lots of lead shot are worth a look( 2 or 3 per mound/mullock heap), although few and far between, there could be some small stuff still there, I have found.

I've found bits of gold off mullock heaps. Best was 3 bits off one. Most amusing were 2 bits of around 1 to 2g each within 6" of multiple detectorist holes. I have a mate who specialises in mullock heaps and gets gold off many. As Flatlander says, low and slow and patience.

Yeah but you forgot to go 101cm nth west of that spot. I found the other 2kg layful:

The diggings are virtually 100% flogged to death by now by 1000s for years.
Not easy to find gold on virgin ground either as thats been flogged as well. 8.(

My personal tally that i have found in nsw is approx 22gm and all from old goldfields at HE and mullock heaps at wattle flat with fresh detecting holes all round the hidden nugs
Not a huge amount but enough to keep me happy
So I would not be put off by ground that has been flogged

Visited old workings in 2019, first time out with the GPZ found 1/2oz and because I was a newbie didn't have it set up correctly until Davsgold helped me out.
We hit another well known flogged area and between myself with the 7000 and my partner with her 2300 we picked up another 1 1/2 ozs.
We were astounded that it was left behind by earlier prospectors. Most of the gold was clean nuggets under 0.5g.
We hope to get permission again this coming season and we're going to chain it to death.
