Thinking of an electric furnace for melting gold. I see from other threads a few members have them and am interested in some brand/model suggestions and feedback....they ain't cheap! Would mainly use use to melt nuggets and for a friend to combine other metals/reduce purity to make jewellery.

My understanding from working on some units in health....

Gas would be cheaper and easier to manage; if your only doing the odd job.

They range from about $300 upwards on ebay (electric)
there are a few of us have them i have had mine for a year and it gets used a fair bit ($549.00)
they do use a lot of power however i run mine off the generator 3kva and it works all day without any problems and that saves on large power bills
i have had the gas ones and the cost of the gas over the year before i got mine would have paid for another electric one
a mate of mine uses the gas axe on his oxy set works fine for him as it gets hot quick and he doesn't melt much at all

Power outage? What power outage?
