Hi everyone. It seems that my planned trip to Eldorado Reedy Creek is put on hold for a short while. I have just bought myself an old capmer van (pop Top) and we now need to prepare it for our use. This will make things much easier for us to get away in the future so I think it is worth it. So if any of you guy's are going there next week, please leave some for me. It will not take long for me to do what needs to be done.
Cheers
Doug

Doug, have you got a 4WD? Many spots along the creek will be a challenge towing a van without one.

Is the camper van an actual caravan with a pop top or a camper trailer with a pop up tent on it?

BTW first thing to do is the bearings and brakes.

Hi. Yes I have a jeep 4x4 and it is really a pop top camper. has plenty of ground clearance and bearings will be done in the coming week. This unit will be checked out and serviced before I use it anywhere. A few years back I used to do on site services on caravans so I know what to keep an eye on.
Thanks for your concern and advise. It is good to be on a forum like this and I follow posts and sometimes get a laugh at some of the posts. Where abouts in Melb are you?
Cheers
Doug

If that was directed at me I'm in Croydon vic.
As you would know camper trailers can handle pretty rugged terrain, a road pop top caravan would struggle on some of the tracks down to the creek, just walk the track first. Also it's a dirt road with pretty bad corrugations, also not good for a road caravan, take it slow and maybe drop the pressures a tad.

Cheers Mark
I'de love to get out there myself, but tied up with lots of projects lately.

Is cleaning that she one.? .. :p
No mate, winding 2x 50kg toroids, very time consuming.

BTW Doug, I have an 80's pop top myself, prob wouldn't take it down a lot of those tracks from the road to the creek, also most camp sites are sloped, so a pain to level a van. Many would be difficult to turn around too. There are a few flat spots that would suit though. If you come in from the Eldorado side, before the first crossing of the creek there is a big flat area to the left, I haven't been there since getting my van so never looked that hard for suitable spots.

lol I know that spot. Every single time I've been up there its had a caravan there. The same caravan and toilet/shower tent.

Yeah almost like he lives there! Always a barrow out the front.

It's a big spot though plenty of room from memory for a few vans.

Wombat, you would probably get some good pointers if he was friendly enough.
