Hey everyone.

Just started prospecting, have been 3 times to Anderson Creek now,as its close to home in Ferntree Gully. Found some color nothing to rave about. We are interested in getting into gem fossicking as well. Just wanted to know if anyone could help us out with any decent areas around Ferntree Gully or just outside metro Melbourne (Eastern Suburbs).

There is quartz, citrine, smokey quartz, tourmaline and if you are lucky topaz in the creeks out near Powelltown. A lot of the Melbourne Lapidary Clubs head out that way , so if you were to join one they could show you the ropes. Good luck.
