G'day all.

I've recently relocated to Halls Creek. I have moved from Vic/NSW area and am finding the Gold Field(s) in the East Kimberley far different than anything I've experienced to date. I'm looking for someone in the Halls Creek area that would be willing to share a bit about the area as a whole, general locations, WA techniques etc. Perhaps someone who may want a mate along once in awhile when prospecting this beautiful landscape.

Will

Welcome Will,

You're certainly right about being different up there, and absolutely nothing like the central WA fields, or the Vic fields. There's several locals up there who are fairly friendly towards locals only, so you won't find it too difficult to find a detecting buddy if you mingle.

Bit of advice when working the longer grass areas after the wet is check yourself for ticks as they are almost as friendly as the flies in some areas, especially in the narrow creek beds.

Will be heading back up that way myself early May for 3 months so keep in touch and we could possibly catch up for a detecting session. All the very best of luck up there mate,

Cheers Wal.

Have a chat to Ray and Mel at the IGA if they are still in town, ray was going to have a crack at detecting and at a guess, Mel would be sure to put you in touch with some locals.

Thank you both for your reply.

Wal, I will be here in 3 months, feel free to email me to discuss a possible hook-up....[please see profile for email address - Nugget].

Wally...I shall look for Ray and Mel...)

Might run into your boys up there. Still deciding between victoria and the nt. Figure being in adelaide now I might first move over to victoria for a month or two and if I can't find any gold I'll go up to the kimberley to try my luck. This is such an amazing place if only for the incredible landscape/fishing. Hard to beat a kimberley sunset. 8)
