A day trip to Dunolly, Victoria (Salvation Hill) looking for some "bigger gold" saw Mardymoose, Din'n-it, dam it and Bigwave meet at the Dunolly bakery at 9am last Saturday. Following a feed, we headed North to Salvation Hill, and after many consultations (I was only 3km South in error - thanks Dig'in-it for correcting me), we finally arrived on site. Great looking ground but only a few small nuggies found. For me, it was a great day in the field, where we each discussed technique and watched the others' style (SDCs vs the GPX). I laughed, made some new and unforgettable friends, and had a blast. Seems like that is what we're all about? That is my church. Sorry if I offended some ISIL. Bigwave.

Dunolly hunt saturday with bigwave , dig`n-it , martymoose and myself .
All righty then I got to dunolly caravan park around 7:30 friday nite ( :( what a dive  ) but thats another story .
meet up with the CREW at the bakery :D gotta love small town bakery,s :p ummm yum yums every were .
Off we went Giddy up after a bit of a stop start back in the ute Giddy up again found location X
Bigwave and daughter were gone so was dig`n-it and martymoose and I was still farting around setting up the 4000
Got a new battery at coiltec in marybourgh last weekend ( and got the wrong one  well not really the wrong one
my old non friendly battery is a " coiltec " and yes of course I got a MINELAB one :( dam it
But all good rang Pete at coiltec arranged for him to post me the charger,s to suit :) got it mid week ;) )
So started up the 4000 with old battery ( after getting the new one I had a look inside the coiltec battery ......looked okay
put it back together and seemed to work again YEA :D )
aND GOT ABOUT 10 Meters from ute and :( dam it ....... shout down again AHHHHHH AHHHHHHHH CHITE AHHHHHHHHHHH
Put the new battery in by this time could not see anyone so I try again AND    Now my headphone,s gave up the race

As I was digging him Bigwave was only about 30 feet away and seen the action ( He may have spoken a few times before I heard him
I can not hear much outside noise with the big elephant headphones on ;) ) any way rite at that time he was going around a tree and
he got a very nice 0.5 grama ( It did have PAUL wrote on the back of it Im sure :D ) so back to the ute for a smoke and a drink and chat
then martymoose came out of know were with a rattler in this jar aswell AWESOME good start for the day so far .
A few minutes later dig`n-it was back did not even see were he came from  ( he started the day with a SDC he hired from coiltec that morning
but was having no luck with it ( they hired him a SDC with no headphones :| ) might as well have not turned it on but anyway .
So had a few more smokes and a coke while we exchanged a few storys " Great bunch of blokes "
And off we went again not much good for me I must of set the SDC on lead mode :( after a while we all ended up back at the ute .
So after a bit more of a chat and map study had a move . Bigwave bagged 2 more at new location " Well done old mate "
So around 4;30 5;00 we had a nother chat for a while and went our own ways .
dig`n-it was heading to Inglewood to camp and have a go on sunday in that area . Good stuff . :)
Not sure were martymoose was going :)
Bigwave ended up at Talbot . Good stuff :)
I was heading to Heathcote or Rushworth was not sure :| But end up in Heathcote lots of trash :( But then SDC went off like a CRAZY person
when there headphones stoped working .
Looked like a hot rock to start with :( But no  soaked it in water over nite and it broke in 2 most of the hard pack dirt came off over nite .
Im still not sure what it is :| But after a closer look see   :D VERY NICE can see it has heaps of small gold stuck in a moust it :D
So back in the jar of water for a while longer tried to take pic,s of it but it is very small gold stuck to it .
I was a little suprised the noise it made , for the colour is not all together but spread out :| " ANY ONE GOT ANY IDEA,S "
So it was another AWESOME WEEKEND plus meet 3 more members Great bloke,s
Thanks for the invite Bigwave :D

Dam it. I gotta see a picture of that rock! Did you do another dance like the one TryHard described after your first nuggy?
Anyway, the young lass and I picked up another 2.34g specie (only contained a little quartz) 200m West of where we were detecting (didn't get lost that time). Almost necklace material but not big enough - I have my God Daughter's engagement coming up so was keen to find that special gift. May have to be some VB as I'm seeing the quack next week re my knee and it may be a few+ months before I'm back out there.
On the way home, went to Talbot after that to find that TryHard had beaten me to the mother lode by a few years? He does work hard that lad and is well set-up.
Mardymoose turned up with empty pockets second day :(
Look forward to hearing how Dig'n-it (the "navigator") went on Sunday.
Was great to be in the field with you guys. May we hobble on!

Yeah good to meet you BigWave, how did you finish up Sunday I went looking for you but you had already gone.
It was just a short reccie mate. Thought you'd have been at your patch all night! As you said, lotsa trash out that way - mostly lead bullets and shot. Still, keen to get back out there with my 4500 as my whippersnapper needs the exercise (meaning me) and the ground looks great! Will leave your patch of SDC sized gold well alone, but would enjoy another catch up and visiting your new 20 acres for a coldie:)

Great write up Paul. You tell a good storie.
Yep, I fully agree a great day out Saturday meeting you fellas. You're all top blokes. Just wish we had some more time to swap stories. My fault for having to rush off to Inglewood.

Found two tiny 0.07 & 0.08 bits with the SDC and one 0.42 with the 4500.
Looking forward to catching up with you all. Happy detecting.

Hi BigWave
Was the 2.34 200m West of the first stop or second? You did well if it was the second stop. That ironstone was amazing. Well done!

Dig'n-it. Brilliant finds mate. You and Inglewood are surely best mates! It was 200m W from first stop. The little one couldn't wait to get back there. Just sorry that my Spot X didn't fill your coffers.

BigWave
Your little one, not so little, is a great spotter, and no doubt great company.
Anytime you're heading back there give my a hoi.
Also, wouldn't mind checking out Talbot sometime.
Was buggered last night but I'm already thinking about when I can get out again. Got people coming over this weekend so may have to be the following.
Look after yourself and hope all goes well with your knee.

That's real skill ...... Being able to smell gold. Think BigWave can smell it too ...... Or perhaps his youngen, the scout, can smell it. Could be the later and on no wonder BigWave has her along ....... Not to mention being chauffeured around while he has a nanna nap LOL! I'll have to talk my young fella to join me ...... But his recent girl friend just might get in way of that. Ha ha!
