Years ago we removed some lengths of pvc pipe marking a disused mining track to use as guttering for our bush camp. Found dead Nightjars that had gone in for a daytime sleep and not been able to climb out.
Wrote to the then Premier - Richard Court and legislation was put in place to not use pvc for road markers & drill holes. If you ever find any in your travels, place a rock covering entrance to save our wildlife, mainly Nightjars & Bungarras.
Drillers now have to fit concrete plugs with a length of reticulation tube sticking out of the ground to mark holes.
