Dolly Down on gold

Hey guys,

Excuse my naivety, but when dollying speccies, does the gold tend to fracture off the host rock at some point/size or do you just end up with a bunch of even smaller speccies?!

Is there an ideal size to dolly down to for separation and if you go to near powder will that give you to cleanest gold while risking losing a few micro bits in the pan off?

Have only dollyed one specie so not sure best approach.

Do a little and check results. Repeat if required.

Pound it to powder or as close as.
Gold being maliable(sp?) the bigger bits will flatten but hold together, smaller bits may fall off but the pan will catch them.
