The Australian mainland dingo is now classed a vulnerable species and it seams that it is well on its way to becoming endangered. The main cause now is cross breeding with wild dogs and from the report below it appears Frazer island has not escaped the hybrids.I don't know about you but I love seeing the pure ones out in the bush and it will be such a shame to no longer see them or hear them howl.

I saw about half a dozen dingoes hanging in a farmer's tree near Roma a few weeks ago, they looked like pure breds but hard to tell for sure without DNA tests.

Well, if this young fella is any indication, there are still some good examples of purebreds out there.

He was the healthiest specimen I have seen in the wild.....in the far outback of SA. I hope he gets to keep the family genes going. :power:

Perhaps the Greens could help somehow

Bahahaha haha hahaha. Oh my, this did make me laugh.
I mean it's exactly their territory right? Native animal persecuted by farmers, who's origins probably align with the first people of our lands, living in remote places.

Mate they couldn't organize a whale watching tour, let alone save a species. Despite all their talk of habitat, human influence, ecology and environment, they don't have a clue mate, just warm fuzzy feelings and maybe a bit of tree planting and media exposure. Haha I sure did get a good laugh though. If you think I'm being disingenuous, please, by all means show me any of them on the front line helping anything but themselves in any practical way to save species. Arts degrees are a poor education for directing animal and habitat survival. :argh:

He looks to be doing ok ozzieau, great photo,a few yrs ago we seen a pair of what i know as alpine dingos up tunas way,i thought they were only in the alpine areas, nsw or vic highlands etc, only ever seen them once before on a property way out from nerriga nsw when i was a kid, they had a pair in the back of an old cattle crate on the farm that had just had a litter.
Stunning to see, allmost pure white,im thinking that these would still be pure hopefully, they were about 50yrds away so didnt get a close up look.....

The little bloke in my pics was just solo and pretty nervous to start with..... musta just been told by the pack to fend for himself.
He kept me company around my camp for 3 days..... could almost hand feed him a bit of bacon by the time I had to leave.
Ill remember those few days, thats for sure.

Hungry-looking country, that's for sure. Bacon would have been a nice change for him after a menu of crickets and lizards out there.
