Was hoping to try to catch up with some others but it must've gone silent on the forum. Next time undercover, dirtyharry & BeagleBoy!

Will write the experience I had with littlenugget:

Met up 10:30 in Launch n said gday and headed to the hills. The drive was slightly further than what I expected , but it was not too bad and very cruisy anyway. Littlenugget had one of his sons and I took my eldest to help dig!

As we didn't know the area, we just drove until we found a spot that looked interesting and headed down to take a look with shovel and pans

Some very nice bedrock sitting about so looks like were doing some crevacing and got the levering tools out and got to it!

Not keeping track at all as we were having too much fun digging, the children reminded us it was food time so we relaxed for a minute and had lunch. The kids entertained themselves quite well for the trip, it would be hard for the. A few accidental slips and dunks into the creek made our children remember why its best to listen to daddy, but they know best right :p

The day went on seeing some gold, seeing some shot and pellets and seeing no gold at times too! Hard work working crevaces and lack of correct tools got the best of us, but we could at least crack and move some rock with what we had.

Littlenugget gave a hail as he spotted a nice little bit rest in upon the bedrock which was something I had been eager to see before, it looked great, he painfully scraped what cracks and holes he could find as I helped to pan out what came from the hole.

Children wet, complaining and cold. The cracks keep going and we could be there all night, so its best to look at what we've found and pack up for the arvo to head home.

Not a lot to look at, but hard crevacing work, fun moving some big rock to see what can be found though. Some decent bits and a bigger "picker" crawled out the hole for us to admire

Had another great day meeting another great prospector and I am sorry we couldn't catch up with the others, we had to make do with what we had. Next time. Cheers littlenugget(s)!

great stuff guys...love reading about members catchups.
I've been talking to nanna mate, probably near Xmas holidays if your near home then?
I'll be round mate and there should still be enough water to run a banker :D

Thanks for sharing AtomRat. Great to see the kids out in the scrub with their oldies i reckon

Lilnugget,

I went to Long Gully on Saturday & worked the creek hard all day for only modest results. A few nice pieces but very hard work.
Seems the best gold is in all the areas you wouldnt normally bother with. I got onto quite a bit of gold on top of shallow bedrock in the creek

On our way back on Sunday we crossed the bridge at around 1.00pm & saw a couple of guys with kids panning downstream
I am guessing it was you. We are working an area about 1km upstream. I guessed you would have come to find us so i could pass on some info about the creek

Saturday was definately more productive than Sunday for us. We had the sluice, highbanker & pans going flat out but failed to realise any good gold.
I guess i have worked our hot spot to death & now need to find another location on the creek.

Going by the photo's you posted it was definately you at the bridge
I have looked & wondered about that area below the bridge. Do you think it is worthy of more investigation?
There are some magic looking spots upstream that i am keen to explore

I guess we need to find another way to communicate on this forum, perhaps personel email
Maybe Prospecting Australia have T-Shirts or Hats available for purchase to identify members

Anyway great to see that you got amongst some gold & a nice picker.
Looks like the kids had fun also

Regards

Dirty Harry

Gday mate! We were certainly bummed out that we didnt catch you either, but next time mate. Feel free to email me your ph. numver or mine is shown in my profile as well. I guess you gave the wave from a dark 4x I think I saw? It was patchy but it was the first time ive really done crevicing like that and the cracks went deeper into bedrock. The problem with it there was the big long section of bedrock removed, causing a straight chute on the inside bend for gold to pass through fast. Seems someone has been digging under the bank at the alluvial resting on the bedrock there some time ago.

We talked about going upstream further but I think the drive was enough for the kids to that point and didnt know the tracks so didnt want to go too much stayed put. To me upstream would be better depending whats there. I did know the road though as I head that way to the freeway to castlemaine!

As I mentioned, having the kids there slowed down our digging and attention a bit, so we more had a quick play rather than a proper dig. Being so close to the bridge seemed rather flogged out as well possibly. Im not used to soo little gravel to find crevice gold though, really fun! Will catch you very soon, its not too far of a drive away
