This is a survey from a metal detecting group on Facebook. I believe it is UK based which may explain the very high numbers for XP Deus. I'll update as more people reply to the survey.

Yeah pretty much as I'd except.
Only problem is sometimes the models are separated, i.e. Racer and Racer 2, and other times they are being lumped together, i.e. Explorer series, and GPX/GPZ.
Needs a bit of consistency. If they bundled Racer and R2, it would be 4th on the list :)

I see they are not all from Overseas Rod, I recognise that little avatar next to the CTX3030.
To be honest I am a little taken aback by those numbers. I new it was doing well in the UK but that well!

Might be time for a road trip I think.

You better bring ya Deus, The junk in the ground will drive you nuts if you don't use a single frequency machine.

Yes I saw the avatar :D I think he may actually be in Europe at the moment.

Would be interesting to see all the locations as well. I am also amazed by the numbers and the At Pro seems much more prominent than here too. So I have both the top 2 machines. Yay me :D

Most of those machines are bleep and dig type machines, Meaning that most folks don't understand the qualities of a few of the machines listed that actually perform better and deeper, favouring others through not knowing why some of the are the way they are or how to use them.

Those figures don`t surprise me, if I was on Facebook I`d add another Deus, just love my Deus. With the new version 4 out shortly suspect they`ll pull away more. Combined with the new pinpointer and perhaps the capability to handle the beach, they`ll do to coin hunting what the Z has to gold hunting.

Can't tell the CTX owners. On a couple 9f FB groups they are going on that the stats are rigged. They have only ever used one detector but know it's the best.

They are ok for big targets like coins etc but they are Blind to small and tiny items and even more so when it comes to Gold,

They cost too much for a coin and large item machine, Trouble with this hobby is you never know what is in the ground So you never know what you leave behind until you go over the ground with another machine, That is why we need more than one because no machine gets it all,

You will never convince anyone that the CTX type machines might not be the best choice, It's only when you hunt along side some one with a Deus type machine does it drive it home and then and then it's either the wrong coil or the wrong program, Even with the 6" coil or the Joey the CTX is well off the pace of other Single frequency VLF's, my dealer always has a couple of second hand CTX's in stock that were trade in for Deus's. Shame really because it is a good machine, but people buy them and try to use them in the wrong surroundings and that does not work well with any machine,

Suspect it is about coin detecting. Crikey, the polls about what is popular in the UK, if it was run here on this forum, suspect the CTX is most popular here, Xterras would be probably near the top too. But as with Toyota over Ferraris, ie. the Deus would be well down the list if on it. Why not have a poll of our own? Probably need two one for coin & relic hunting, one for gold. Only shows what`s popular not what`s best, that would be in the eye of the beholder, I`m one eyed for sure. ;)

I agree, because of the Iron junk here they use to be Tesoro / C-Scope crazy and then Minelab came on the scene and many did well with ML machines and some even found a few Hoards too, Whites has always been a bit like the Landcruiser (dependable when there is work to be done) Then XP came on the scene and there was a landslide towards them and then those owners chop and change between ML and XP, Truth is BBS and FBS suffer over here, I have owned 3 of them,

I have often wondered as to why they sell machines like them here because they are hard work, but in recent times I have wondered as to why they keep selling the GP/X machines, To me they are a waste of a really great machine over here, The SDC I can see a use for because UK Gold is small but the most crazy thing is to try and market the ZED over, I just don't see a place for it because there are no place that are open to the public to swing such a beast,

Crown land is protected and private is off limits unless you get permission and that is pretty rare these days, And anywhere there is Gold there is always someone cause trouble if you get permission and they don't, So the only place to use such machines is on the Beaches and that is under threat,

John.
