Subject to what I have just read on the ABC News reporting, Dan Andrews has stated the following.....

"10 people will be able to participate in outdoor sports and socialising.

The change means Victorians will be able to go fishing, hiking, play golf and join walking groups, provided physical distancing is maintained."

So, I ask you to clarify for yourself this statement and the inclusion of detecting but I think it is a go go go... but day trips only?

That's great news.

Question without trying to sound like a smart arse but what time do you have to be out of the Bush?
l say this because for some people like myself that live in Melbourne and work in country areas it means that for example when I work in Maryborough for a few days I usually finish around 4pm, get out and detect unit well after dark with head lamp before heading back to the motel.

It looks like another grey area that the authorities and public might not agree on what is considered a day trip, hopefully Dan stipulates where in means daylight hours only or as long as you are not camped out that it's OK to detect or fish until midnight.

Doesn't say day trips only nor does it say no overnight trips. 5 people can gather in a house if there is a need for this to happen, so if I have to attend at my sisters or my sons homes and the round trip is going to be 12 hours in the car I'll be staying the night. With my family hypothetical scenario I can go fishing, hiking, prospecting, play golf, bush walking or hunting in the areas where my family lives is the way I read it. It's ambiguous in its context so I'm making plans to get out amongst it :Y:  I hope everyone does after all we'll all be better off for doing so. I'll be exercising distancing and hygiene anyone who doesn't is just asking for trouble.

Forgot to add this.

This has been announced:

"Camping not allowed, but no limits to travel distance in Victoria
But camping is still out there will be no overnight stays allowed in the national or state parks.

There are no limits to how far you can travel though, Dan Andrews says you can drive to the beach, or your favourite hiking track, if you wish (and can still abide by physical distance rules)."

Cool, I'd better find my thermals then as there might be some long nights, could also be a good time to use some of my Choice Motel points :perfect:

I've just put a post in Camping re S.A. We can camp, but bugger all prospecting here lol.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Are Vic State Borders open? This seems confusing here in S.A. as our borders are closed for now. I believe this means no one in or out other than transport and essential.

I'm about to take the van out in a couple of days, turn the 2300 into a beach detector for a few days in S.A. lol. Waiting for the borders to open lol.......

Motels in Vic are largely open, but camps closed - even in National & State Parks (I assume also in State Forests).
As OldGT says, you may be able to get into Vic, but getting home to SA again may be an issue.

Caravan parks, camping grounds etc will be shut.

Andrews is asking residents not to overnight stay using accommodation for trips away unless for work, care or essential reasons, so to do it would be against the advice, but I have no idea what message has been sent out to general accommodation providers if any about guests they can and cant have.

If things go well (fingers crossed) Im sure the overnight trips will be back on the table soon enough lest owners go broke.

Family members (3) were charged $400 per night in Canberra for two consectutive nights completely down to limited options available and, in no small part Im sure, the fact they were from interstate.

Best call ahead I think.
