in the manual it does say it is water resistant, i personally wouldn't as it isnt water proof, but others smarter than me might have some more insight into this

I do not like detecting in the rain , but when I do which is not that often the coils are OK with the control box I presume you are using a protective cover if not get one that covers the black legs of the control box that just keeps them clean from scratches . I use a shower cap or some thing simular to stop water getting into the back of the detector and with the battery cable if you place it under the back Velcro strap that holds the control box cover on it takes any pressure on where the cable connects to the control box regards john :)

DD do a cover that wraps around and also has end caps ................. would still place a plastic cover over top but as electronics don't even like moisture content in air let alone getting wet.
Other than that ......................... get out the SDC and go bananas :D :D

I carry one of the light weight shopping bags, like mardymoose suggested, scrunched up in my mini back pack. When it rains I just slip it under the control box and use the bag handles to tie it on. Works a treat. However I only detect in light showers not in pouring rain. I'm keen but not that keen.
