A real newbie question :8 What are BB's......?

To me they would be shotgun pellets , bb is the size of the lead shot like SGs , BB , AA, 2, 6 , 9 ecetror.

In reference to BB's in coin detecting terms.. a BB is a Brown *******. 1c & 2c coins
( i had to be informed this by silver myself too hahaha )

aussiefarmer be referring to the (rural)country (shotgun)aspect of detecting bb's verse the urban scourge of bb's we face understep.

Thanks AR, I figured it had to be something about copper coins but I was stuffed if I could get BB's from 1 & 2 cent coins now I can

Yep, I've always taken it to mean "brown *******s" - 1 and 2 cent pieces. Silver, I reckon you are being very discriminating classifying pennies and ha'pennies in the same category, although I see your point.

When I was a brickies labourer for a few years in the 70's, I often used to dig up pennies while digging footings for fences or removing turf to lay pavers around the Sutherland Shire. Marbles were the most common find, though!
