Hi guys
Today was a interesting day to say the least .
We were detecting an area up home when my wife and I decided to walk along a fallen tree to access the top of this ridge .
I went first and my wife followed everything was fine until we got to the end and went to climb down .
I got down fine and then turned around to help my wife and next minute she is yelling out to me in a state of panic ,she had lost her footing and fell down a deep hole approx 3 m deep .
I couldn't see her at first as the hole was overgrown with ferns etc.
She sustained a badly broken wrist.
It was a difficult rescue as I had to pull her out of the hole by her arms .
We had a hour drive back home on dirt roads which was a bit rough for her .
Just a good reminder of the hidden dangers around goldfields especially for rookies like us .
Cheers
Gary

Thanks mate yes it was a bit of a ordeal she requires surgery unfortunately so she won't be detecting for a while 8.(

That's not a good outing, hope all goes well with the surgery and your back out there soon

Gaz & Al , all the best for your recovery Al , sorry to hear what happened . I had to laugh to myself , I have been home all day and in the last hour I lent around the laundry door to turn off a light and my wife closed the door with 4 of my fingers near the hinge . At this stage I have 3 black nails and one smashed finger . But not traumatic as your adventure . Get well soon and find some yellow after your recovery .

Cheers

not good to hear but i guess good it was only the wrist and not a deeper hole with a harder stop, hope all goes well with the recovery and is a speedy one too, i am taking a mate detecting on the weekend coming and he has no experience detecting or goldfields and where we are going there is heaps of open shafts, have to admit this is my concern about him

Geez sorry to hear of your Ladies accident, I hope she is fairing up well given the circumstances, and wish her a speedy recovery,

John.

Gaz hope your lady recovers quick and well so you can get her back on that pick  :D
On the bright side one could say if not before she has now certainly fallen for you  boom boom ............... in a big kinda way ? :D :D :D
ps I have to ask did you get her to check the hole while she was down there ?

On a serious note get well quick Al and certainly goes to show how easily and quickly things can turn pear shaped. :(

Thanks to everyone for your kind words we really apreciate it , :)
Hopefully when she recovers we will run into some of you guys out there prospecting .
Cheers
Gary
