Repairs + X-pointers
Will have bone graft and pins in L/Wrist on Monday and looking forward to the future and no Bone on Bone rubbing...
So rushed my new Carbon Fiber shafts inbetween bouts of pain and general house work. But after my wrist is pinned, maybe undoing and fitting the coil bolt, would not be such a painful procedure...
The standard Carbon Fiber shafts are about 0.2mm too large and that is critical to a clean slid movement and the cam lock...
Thus tossed it on a lathe and after some polishing - perfect fit.
So all up with new carbon fiber shafts and end fittings and one cheep nylon bolt...
Total costs = Well under $95.
Better than $350 plus for bought ones and now a coil change is not such an issue for me - good or bad wrist..
Note how the cable is run from the coil; and a good reason as to why I run it via the top; rather than from underneath.
Reduces the sharp angle on the cable strain relief when the coil is flat - as it often when transporting.
Any reduction to cable flex at that point, will help to manage the risk to broken cables and the dreaded "Coil not found error".
On my two that I made up; I made the cable access a tad higher AND also made them about 100mm longer..
