Spotted this on Fleabay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=141131818866&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:AU:1123

Sent the seller the following:  Hi,

been looking for one of these still new in box. Could you please send me the serial no of this machine, to prove authenticity, as I have a friend that bought a counterfeit one and so was ripped off by the scummy dirtbag that'd advertised it.

Thanks

His reply:   Hi Tirebizo the serial no. will do you no good because they are not registered until you send paper work for warranty and then the no. is registered.

These machines are direct from the factory.

My reply to that:  Hi,

so these machines are direct from the factory. Which factory? Can't be the Minelab one 'cause ALL their machines' numbers can be verified as authentic simply by sending the serial no to them. No need to purchase prior to checking that serial number. Give me the serial number and I can soon verify if the machine is authentic. If not it is not worth the box it's sitting in.

Cheers

Looking forward to his reply to that.

Gotta be another scammer. Why is it that Fleabay continues to allow the counterfeit whatevers to be sold. Thought it was a 'law-abiding' site. Or is it that they don't care as long as they continue to cop their fees.

I know that, with a Paypal purchase, you've got a chance at recovering your loot but pity help the poor buggers that use some other form of payment and get ripped.

I believe Fleabay should put some form of policy into place where the authenticity of high end items need be verified prior to listing. Should be reasonably easy when you have verifiable serial nos. Otherwise isn't it some form of helping promote this insidious practice?
