Hi guys and gals yesterday me and Atomrat had some fun in the sun and had a Dectect around some of his secret spots on the hunt for old coins ext had a great day and a very good learning experience ;) Atomrat had some cool finds some half penny's got me excited and I also found 2 threepence 1936,1919 will post pics of them after but I also found what could be a diamond ring its copper but had no markings at all which concerns me a little but the stones are in perfect condition with not one scratch. Gday D23,... nice find,... is there a hollow under the stones that lets the light through at all,... or is the ring just solid copper under those stones,... another photo maybe. :)

Certainly not gold but perhaps was gold plated over copper - stones don't look like diamonds but maybe other gemstones ... Nice interesting find!

Paste,....on cosyume jewelery,.... no holes underneath the stones is saying it's just pretend,....from the old days(1920s maybe). :)
Still looks lovely though. :)

Its no doubt copper I can say that, and it has been cast from a two part mold.

I kept thinking it wasn't valuable, but what gemstone would have no scratches at all on it? It been through a river most likely and is in an area I pull lots of old coins, watches and trinkets from

Whatever the conclusion, its old, the stones are unscratched but the copper has had enough exposure through time to have tarnished. Mabey it once was gold plated

If the stones were scratched, I'd straight away say its a cheap piece..but they are seriously too clean I.m.o

Hey AR, nice find. In my opinion the stones could be Aquamarine, Aqua is a semi precious stone. It's seems to be more valuable these days than it was in the past. All depends on size colour and cut though.

They don't look like Sapphire and they certainly wont be Blue Diamonds.

First up: I wish it was my find, Dylan sais he's got NZ background but he is luckier than a Irish Leprechaun! He doesn't even need a detector to find a ring like this..he just picked it up off the ground!!

Even though it seems to be set in something cheap Heatho, ill go with your choice of stone and say aquamarine as well. That blue is also visible when looking at it in your own hands. I don't know its hardness..hold up..my book here sais 8. Considering the harshest rock possibly in the river next to where it lay is quartz, I'd say we got a winnar! Aquamarine set in copper. Got an answer now dylan? Hehehe

Ill also study it closer and get those extra details on the cut and size next time I meet up with Dylan

He has now broken in his detecting skillz and doing really well and this practice is all for the goldfields for us to find color one day :)

Thanks for the info guys aquamarine that would be cool and fitting it's my birth stone ;) but I will take it to get looked at and determine what the stone really is and come back with some results but carnt be happier with my first ring find :)
