Sofala has a lot of opportunity for both wet prospecting & metal detecting. Obviously the main attraction there is the Turon River so panning + sluicing is popular.
There are plenty of areas for metal detecting though too both along the river, on higher ground & up at Wattle Flat.
Just make sure you are in an allowable area. There are areas of private property, leased crown land, other crown land requiring permission etc
