G'day guys,

RE, the Home Leisure,Caravan,4wd and Camping Show.

Just a quick one to let you know that Brad from Detect a Den will be at epic with a rep from Garrett Australia this weekend. They will have with them the new Garrett ATX Extreme and be able to give all a run down about them. There will also be an expert on the GPX5000 there, ....so a good chance to get some opinions on both machines.

I hope to be there tomorrow (sat morning) to pick their brains and form some of my own opinions. ;) ( being a GPX stalwart ). Be great to catch up with some of you guys if you're in the area.

Cheers Wal. :)

Sorry mate I would love to go but got a wedding this weekend and flying next friday. I will have to wait for my own (when it finally comes).

It's unlikely that I will be going, just received my detector and hope to spend the weekend fossicking the local area. :D

Wal, lets us know your thoughts on the ATX. It sounds like a good machine. It would be interesting to hear your view as you have lots of experiance with detecting. I am off to Gippsland this afternoon to catch up with Balx and the rest of like minded individuals. :)

Hope you enjoy the Gippsland outing mate and say g'day for me to the crew. GtsJeff from the forum will be receiving the first ATX in Canberra shortly, and the first thing we are going to with it, is compare the unit to the GPX5000 and the Whites ozz series. Will have an unbiased report very soon. Will probably do it as a vid. ;)

Had dinner with the Jeff and the Garret Australia rep last night and much of the conversation was around the ATX. From their independent field testing it certainly is amongst the "Heavyweights" when it comes to gold detecting. Looking forward to my own test results. ;)

Cheers Wal

Missed you there Wal, had departed by 0745. They were busy at the detector stand. It was a very expensive trip, purchased a new camper.

Wow, tell us the details slow! :)

I forwent the campervan show to do the 'garage sale trail' in Canberra (lots of garage sales organized for the same date so people could travel from one to the other). Kids got a lots of dollhouses :p I managed to score a good deal on some banknotes and purchased an ultrasonic cleaner to get the crap off coins and jewelry that I find (only using it on modern coins. :)

Then in the arvo tried my new metal detector, got a few coins but mostly junk, but feel like I am learning and had a blast :)

Although I didn't go there today would love to meet up with any canberrites, or any visitors from this forum :)

Sarn, sounds like a good day for you, new toys for everyone.
Avan Cruiseliner to be delivered next Feb, it replaces my Camplet. Meets kitchen tiger's approval, now to get her free camping.

Was very easy to get lost out there in the crowd. Checked those vans out myself and wasn't there some real crackers amongst them.

Had a play with the new Garrett and apart from being quite heavy, it certainly feels bullet proof. Even more keen run some tests on it now.

cheers Wal.

Looking forward to your report Wal be good coming from someone you can trust as i know you will be unbiased, i truly am not expecting it to be as good as the minelab 5000, and minelab have just announced 3 new models this year
But if its half decent it will be a lot better than using vlf detectors on the goldfields

Looking forward to seeing some tests on your forum with the ATX im serving in the middle east and wont be home till x mass however my ATX is payed for and will be waiting at home under the Xmas tree was tossing up second hand minelab vs ATX lets hope i made the right decission

Sounds like you have yourself a great xmas present under the tree. The ATX is definitely no slouch, and for the money there is nothing that will come close to it. Just how good it is in a direct "unbiased" comparison with the 5000 will soon be revealed.

Take care over there and stay safe mate,

Cheers Wal.

Hey Wal you do know that this is not quite kosher. I ordered mine 1 month ago and I am still waiting. Its been so long I am getting the shakes and everyone else in this world seems to be playing with it and saying how good it is. 8.(

But hey. When It finally arrives it will be like Christmas but maybe it wont arrive until then.
Its doin my head in. I feel happy and sad now. :|

The inside info from the Garrett Aust head is it will be available in about 2 weeks time ;) ....so the wait is becoming shorter. They say good things come to those who wait... :D

Cheers Wal.

Cheers thanx Wal were winding down here real quick the govt wants us home, i have a gut feeling the ATX will have been be a good buy
