Just wondering whether anyone has done any detecting in a few places near Bathurst & Orange

The first just outside of Bathurst is Ben Chiffley dam. I was out fishing there a few months back, and the geology looks good. Plenty of exposed quartz reefs in the hills around the dam. As far as I'm aware it's all private property but just interested to know whether anyone has had any experience in the area

The second is Kinross State forrest just out of Orange. I've seen a quartz specimen with a small vein of gold running through it from this area. I've been told it's all very fine gold out there & spent a few days out there with the detector without success. Interested to know if anyone's ever found a nugget out there

Cheers NN :)

yes the creek you cross just before you turn of the lagoon charlton road holds gold about 2 kms up,good luck with access though.

NuggetNed we spent a couple of days at Wattle Flat a little north of Bathurst. There's a lot of gold history there but we came away happy with just one little 0.5 nugget.

when u drive along the access road to Chifley and u look down to the creek u can see a lot of bedrock.
halfway along on the left is a gate. its private property but im pretty sure ur allowed 2 or 3 metres from waters edge. I could be wrong.
or park at the carpark at the main boat ramp and walk down towards the creek at the spill way and just walk along the creek
