We celebrated Mrs M's 60th on Saturday night.:D

We had a great group of like minded friends cooking on the campfire.

She wanted a pavlova for a cake so she made her own. :8

Of course she got a few antiques amongst her gifts. These old English bottles dug by a friend were a little unexpected and she was thrilled to bits.

And this unusual pick is obviously very old but we have no idea what it was used for. ;)

Being a camping and prospecting theme we had a few nuggets well hidden. That's when you get to find just how much junk was already lying around before the bitumen was laid.

Only one nugget was found so now we can get some practise in without ever leaving home

We had a fantastic night with so much campfire cooking done we'll be eating it for the next month. The last of the guests left by around midday Sunday after spending the morning swinging the detector for just one little nugget :8 :)

Wow,what a great birthday party, a campfire, pavlova, relics, bottles, nuggets and great friends what more could you ask for?Happy Birthday to Mrs Moneybox. That pick is so cool.

We went for a little drive a couple of weekends ago to collect some firewood and spent he time camping. We accidentally came across some bits of glass nearby and had a bit of fun digging around. Although they are not very old, there were some bottles we didnt have, namely the small hexagonal brown poisons. I love them but I kept hoping for a pretty blue one.

There were dozens of gold and a few silver milk bottle tops with thumbprint indentations but not a single milk bottle. Must have returned them all for refilling. No sign of blue, green or purple anything, though. Also found some bits and bobs, a serpent and a bobtail. He might have been digging but Mr M masked his real intention which was to detect nearby.

So we did - he found a penny, yellow bus and cement mixer bowl. I found a bit of a gun, a friend for Taz and some sort of metal thingy that I thought looked a bit like a boat, only flattened. It says Made in London and has a patent number, 658070. Turns out it is an English made S40 tinplate submarine. Shame the rest is AWOL.

Once again,Taz got into the swing of things and helped out, making sure we all kept in touch.

He got nosy at times and also found a fly stuck upside down to an insectivorous sundew plant. Im sure I heard it squeaking,Help me, help me!! But since I had just been bitten by one of its family tree. I didnt. The plants gotta eat, ya know.

Thankyou. Yes, it was a brilliant night and the pick is really cool, that's for sure. Wish I knew what it was used for.
