If it was international day of the camlock fitting , just out of curiosity , what do people fit on their pumps ?

do you put male camlocks on both pump ends and then male-female on the hoses or male on suction and female on outlet ?

I have never looked closely at what other guys have used when i see other highbanker operators out in the field and with some of these large group outings coming up i thought i would check if we have any universality of fittings in case there is any lending or borrowing of hoses.

mine are 1-1/2" male on both of the pump ends and then male - female on every pressure and suction hose

is there any such thing as an international standard for this ?

On the pump - Male Suction, Female Outlet.
Then your delivery hose and extensions are set up so you can join them. Just think of the direction that the water is going.
The male ends are pointing in that direction.
I do not know if this standard is adhered to these days as a twist lock is used on fire hoses now.
Also haveing them that way can stop some confusion, at times. :) :)

Run males on both ends of pump like yourself, and on spray bar as well. Main delivery hose females, and extension delivery hose male one end and female other end. :)

are you saying that the morning after a big night has led you to connect the hoses on the wrong fittings at least 3 times over the years , taking you anywhere from 10 - 30 seconds to twig to it and work out why the pump isnt priming ?
the standard protocol is a quick look over your shoulder to make sure nobody noticed then quickly do the switcheroo

( thats just between you and me okay ) :8

my thinking is to not lose the rubber seal in the female couplings , so I run male on both intake and outlet on the pump and then hose is female in and male out , meaning I can use the hose for clean up without worry that it may blow the seal out , mind you there is not a lot of chance of that happening with the pressures we are using highbanking and the way the seals are held in the fittings.
In my younger years I was a member of the local CFA fire brigade and the SOP was female in male out with the exception of "solid suction" which was the other way around (the good old days of 2" 3tpi fittings), we did carry "******* couplings"(male-male, and a female-female converters) for those rare times someone ran a hose backwards (sometimes intentionally like laying hose from the fire to the hydrant , because the way the boxes were packed was hydrant to the fire ie. female coupling accessible)

LOL, Yes that is the general standard normal practice.
Especially when you are a bit "Foggy" the morning after and wonder why your pressure lay flat sucks shut when the pump is started. 8)
I set mine up like that as I have 2 hoses.
1 x 5 meters
1 x 15 meters

I run male camlocks on my pumps and sluice with two lengths of layflat (10 and 15meters all female both ends ) which I can join if needed with a 0.5 meter short piece of layflat that has a male camlock on both ends - that way I can mix and match if needed.

Cheers

Wow, you guys are working close to the water. All my hoses are 50 m long.
I have been thinking of cutting a third off one for a short hose if needed.
As far as the camlocks go, male inlet and female outlet on pump and the layflat hoses have male one end and female the other.
I also have a few flexible 1 m lengths of Bunnings push together pool hose one with a male and another with a female camlock.
This allows me to have a variable length of flexible from the end of the layflat to the highbanker.

Yeh males on the pump (suction n del)

Male on the HB also.

Females both ends, both hoses.

This allows me to female 'camlock cap' the male ends on the pump.......stops any foreign matter getting in, and the kids from putting leggo blocks down em ;)

Cheers

Just for some input I use octopus pool suction hose for the pump inlet comes in 1 metre length and sites inside the walbanker frame when your in transit it joins together easy to get you down in the water and packs up compact in the car

Haha never thought it through. The colored hoses are the give away for me. Just use the hose kit supplied, have always asked for inlet outlet with couplings never specified. Interesting question and responses.
