Hello everyone ,
i would not have a clue about using or writing on a forum, this is my first foray into this metal detecting, i am looking at buying a detector spending around $700 max as there are so many detectors out there the choice is murder, i`m looking at ones that will find gold and coins,
i will be camping in the not too distant future, and would like to be set up in the next week or so.
the detector does not have to be brand new if theres any good second hand ones available
i would like to stick with the main best selling brands an no Chinese knock offs.
I am technically minded ( play around with electronics ) so i understand a bit of how they work
the PI`s are way too pricey although you can get a kit DIY from the uk surfmaster pro for $100
just a bit of soldering involved and getting all the parts you need off the net, and make your own coil.
i will be considering one that covers gold. beach and inland water proof coil would be a bonus but will not be used in the surf.
I am looking forward to reading the replies and getting some good advice over the next few days
regards sooty

Welcome mate
My one would be a Gold Monster 1000 but they cost up to $1200
I am sure you will get lots of advice very soon
