Hello,
Been awhile since I posted here but October turned out to be an incredible month for me re buckles. The site was a mid to late 1800's industrial one that support around a 100 person working community. The area is large and was hit heavily by detectors in the 90's. Most of the buckles came from the trash pit area and away from the actual hut sites themselves. My detector managed to sniff out some that were hidden in heavy ferrous. I hope to repeat the effort in November but I think this was a lifetime number. These finds came from 3 hunts on the site. The NSW area around Canberra was well known in the country for having powerful cricket teams from 1860-80, hence large number of cricket buckles found on sites around here I guess?
