I bought a pair of Blundstone 550s as a pair of elastic sided boots to wear with jeans. got a very good price online, too. I bought them from an online retailer, but the delivery came directly from the Blundstone factory (or should I say distribution center).

They are very comfortable, and I was considering getting pair of the workboot models to replace my nearly cactus Aldi elastic sided boots (no complaints about them, got plenty of wear and great value for $35.)

But I found out that despite the Tasmania, Australia printed on the tags you use to pull them on, the Blundstone 550 is now made in Vietnam. There is a sneaky little tag on the inside saying that.

Some research reveals that Blundstones are now made in Vietnam or Thailand, depending on the model.

So it looks like the new workboots will be Redbacks, which are still made in Australia, and are supposed to be more comfortable as well.

I got a pair of Blundstone elastic sided boots for work and they are not detector friendly and only lasted 6 months. Now have a pair of Graphites (laces with zip sides) from Target for less and they are detector friendly.

Cheers

Doug

My Last 3 pairs of Oliver AT's excellent and comfortable non-metallic boots, but made in China. Used to be Australian Made. ?

I wear Olivers elastic sided boots. No metal, and made in Ballarat.

Me too.

I religiously used to buy and wear Blundstones for many years ,but then the soles started to wear out more quickly and i could no longer get a comfortable boot from Blundstone . So , after trying all the other brands , Olivers have come up trumps for me.

Yeah I won't buy anything from an Australian company if it's made over sea's , means they've sacrificed Australian workers for overseas workers and then sell back here, won't be any cheaper just bigger profits

Gazeka, not sure about Olivers made in China, as I bought mine from the factory in Ballarat.

The Oliver AT's used to be Australian made but are now definitely made in China. Oliver confirmed that to me. They only make a couple of styles here in Australia now & pretty sure none of them are work boots?
Oliver has also been owned by Honeywell since 2011. Honeywell are an international company with their headquarters in the USA.

Redbacks are made in N.S.W.
Rossi are made in S.A.

Blundstones have been made off shore for a number of years

Best place to get Rossi - Bunnings - be careful as both steel cap and non cap boots are sold there - as the knight said in The Holy Grail "Choose wisely". :)

I use Rossi and Oliver AT (not at the same time lol.)
