I have previously posted about this blue gem but I had very flat batteries in UV torch. Previously chalky green ONLY in fluorescence, maybe that was SW not sure.

I bought stronger batteries for my UV wavelength-390-395 handheld light to take these photos in TOTAL darkness with UV only light.

Third last photo shows gem in my hand but appears to be green centre with transparent whitish look but also has a pinkish look to it on diff angles.
Second last photo is of gem placed on red paper and also appears the same as in hand photo.
Last photo of gem is with light room conditions using UV light.

I also added 2 photos of a quartz I scratch my gem with and it did scratch so I guess rules out sapphire :( Oh well I love it its so pretty:)

I really need to know why it does this pinky colour only on white background? Please help me

Hi AF84,

It may be minute traces of chromium in your stone?

I know that some rubies, aka pink sapphires glow hot pink under a UV light because of a high chromium content.

There may be other minerals present that refract this colour as well. Light and the refraction of light is a tricky business way above my pay grade!

Cheers
