New to Alluvial gold panning and this site...

keep to have some fun panning around Blackwood area and one had any luck around this area or any pointers to help me on the right path.
I downloaded the no go zones around blackwood, seem to be not many other places to go.

any help will be great as only experience I have Is panning at sovereign hill years ago :)

thanks heaps
Ben

Welcome Ben

Up the creek north of O'Brien Crossing you will see a mine on the left bank so from there back to the crossing.

See colour just with a pan.

Cheers

I would like some help on the area also...

Is there a map that shows the excluded areas around obriens crossing?

Decent spot to camp would be keen to take a pan up!

Thanks

I didn't know u could go just north of O Briens crossing. Thought this was all a no go zone!!!

That's what I thought... Need a clear map, I couldn't find one.

Id be keen to know aswell it does seem like a good place to camp and from what Detrack is saying, is a good place to pan aswell (if we're aloud too of course)

thanks for the info. my understanding is east of Blackwood is a no go zone and I do see parks out there a lot.
not worth the huge fines..

might try out east of blackwood.

so how deep do you dig on the inside bends??

Next time your out there and see a ranger just ask if it would be ok to go up the creek to try a pan or two. There was a time you could camp at the camp ground and do it, Do you know there area no gone prospecting zone but they dont hold them up. There are areas marked N/Park and they are not and you can prospect them.
Do you believe what GeoVic Show you.or read what they teach you.

Yes many areas have no go zones and many you shouldn't go. Best then you stay away.

Cheers

what do you guys do since all the rivers are dry.. do you do a quick dry pan then take a bulk sample home and pan at home..
also how deep do you tend to dig before you pan the sample?

ive only been prospecting twice so definitely no expert however both times taken untested buckets to fill and panned at home so far found gold in all of them, very very lucky. However ive read some blokes on here fill buckets and find near by dams to sluice in. I just dig as far as i can before the buckets are to heavy to carry back(thats the only limitation), might need to invest in a donkey to carry my dirt! hahah.
:)
