Planning a week trip soon just want to know some of the best spots for alluvial gold, planning to stay at a spot for a night then move on. We have a lifted 4wd and are willing to drive up to 18 hours away from Albury NSW. Thanks in advance :)

Dylan,

The best spot is the one you research yourself because I doubt that anyone here will publically reveal their "best spot"

Any gold bearing creek is your best bet.

There is a massive amount of info on here that should already point you in the general direction.

Good luck and be sure to share your story with us when you return.

LOL,
You live in Albury and are having problems finding a spot or two. ?
Mate, I have an old Hilux and within 12 hours can drive from here in Tathra NSW down through
Melbourne settling Carpenters Rocks the other side of Mount Gambier South Australia.
And have time to have a good evening meal at a Pub cracking Stubbies.
.
You can find your spot within a comfortable easy drive from your base.
.
Please enjoy reading through the fabulous wealth of information we have available in here.

Hey Dylan

I live in the general area some shortish drive from Albury, I have a looong list of spots to check out with in a 100km radius in fact too many to deal with.....

If you really are having trouble finding spots then check out how some of the members research new areas..

Dylan, You need to do some research of your own.

People are not going to tell you where to find gold. You need to put in a bit, (I should be honest and say A LOT) of research of your own.

You have been a member for all of 3 weeks and you are talking about heading off on a week long trip with very little knowledge and having done no research.

You don't even have a particular area in mind! 18 hours from Albury can take you anywhere in 4 states

The internet makes it easy to find information and unfortunately it also makes it easy for people to simply ask others without making any effort yourself.

Sorry to be blunt but that is how it is. Do your research like those of us that have been doing this for most of our lives.

Regards
Creekbed

Small world, Mrs Chewy used to live at Carpenters rocks.

Great forum, now I know Carpenters Rocks are in SA and it looks like another spot on the bucket list.

Take a pan & shovel and make this a recon road trip. Be aware that you can drive 4-5 hours to a known gold spot and return with 6 fly spots in the pan. Just had 4 days in Hill End and got 0.15 grams but met some great people and enjoyed the trip.

I went to Elderado, close to you. Same result as above.

Give Eldorado a crack, not too far from you and you'll always find a bit if your willing to put in a bit of walking and hard work, but I'd definitely put in a bit of your own research before you head off, best of luck, one thing I would advise is spend time learning about where gold will most likely settle in creeks, watch YouTube videos, look through this forum, an hour spent on the internet will save you hours in the field, good luck

Hi Dylan45,
I agree with the responses so far, which you probably realise are fair given your question. Given you live in the Albury region, there are plenty of good alluvial gold creeks in north east Victoria where you can get good colour, camp and 4x4 to your hearts content. I would refine your art locally whilst you do some good online researching for adventures further afield.
